Whether you’ve chosen something short and sweet or excerpts from your favourite books, it’s simple to build them into your theme or even make them the starting point for your wedding décor.
Use wholesale wedding accessories and the huge range of wedding supplies and wedding decorations at WWS to inspire creative ways to make your favourite poems and words an integral part of your wedding day and a lasting memory for your guests to take away.
Love Letters
Typography has been a popular trend in wedding décor recently, especially for rustic and vintage-themed weddings. Rather than simply using your names writ large, use your readings to inspire text-based printed bunting, stencil it onto ceremony backdrops, or even use it on your wedding linens. A favourite quotation or excerpt written out on a table skirt or wedding tablecloth makes an eye-catching feature for the top table, or to draw the eye to a cake or gift table.
For informal weddings, chalkboard wedding centrepieces are a great place to write up your readings—or parts of them—to add interest to wedding tables. Don’t worry about having a wobbly hand, there are plenty of online tutorials, and you can use transfers or tracing paper to be sure of a neat finish. In fact, you can create chalkboards from almost anything; just invest in wood or old picture frames in your desired size and cover them with chalkboard paint.
Alternatively, choose a single word or phrase to emphasise by using large-scale letters made from polystyrene or wood and highlighted by marquee lighting.
By The Book
If your order of service or wedding programme has the space, consider including your readings in full rather than just the title and reader. Even if all of them can’t be reproduced in full, use one on the back page or a line from each of them to weave through the entire programme.
Finding clever ways to incorporate your readings is a fun challenge if you’re making your own invitations or programmes. You can easily print out copies of your readings, either directly onto your paper or cards, or onto a contrasting paper. Short words or phrases are especially effective embossed onto cards.
Memento Mori
Give your guests a memory of the readings as part of your wedding favours or thank-you cards. Luggage tags printed with part of a reading on one side and a name on the other side add a personal and romantic touch to favour bags or boxes, or include them in the wrapping for gift portions of your wedding cake.
Fall in love with the words you’ve chosen to mark your wedding and build them into your day for a unique and effective statement of who you are and the future you’re planning together.
