So you decided not to elope, and instead you are in the full swing of planning your big day? Like most brides, you have probably made a commitment to yourself to leave no stone unturned in the quest to ensure that you have the perfect wedding. One detail that you won’t want to forget is the chair covers for the wedding or reception. It’s a small detail that makes such a huge difference to making the day as perfect as you imagine it will be. If you have never done this before, like many brides, you may be a bit confused about the many different chair covers that are available - so here is the lowdown on the different types available.
Fitted
Fitted chair covers are a bit like a fitted sheet, and are sown into a shape to fit over the chair loosely but cover the whole chair. They are easy to install and are a great idea if you don’t love the chairs that you are using (but have no other option). If you are using ugly chairs, you will want to cover them up completely, so these are one of the better options.
Lycra
Like the fitted chair covers, the lycra ones cover over the chair completely, but they hug it, so the shape of the chair will still be able to be clearly seen through the cover – a bit like when a person wears lycra clothing! If you don’t like the shape of your chairs, it’s probably best to go for the fitted chair covers instead of lycra. Having said that, if you have chosen specific chairs for the wedding, you will want to accentuate their awesomeness, so you will definitely want to opt for the lycra covers for a sleek look that really stands out.
Printed
Printed chair covers are a great option if you want to add a little colour or texture to the plain colour schemes of the wedding, but they often only come in limited patterns when choosing to buy them pre-made. If you are planning well ahead of time you may be able to choose a fabric that you really want and have them made up for the occasion.
Slip Cover
A slip cover goes over the back of the chair, and adds a special little something, a bit like a scarf for your outfit. They are often embroidered, and sheer, which gives an ethereal quality to the proceedings. If you are having a garden wedding, or have organised gorgeous wooden chairs for the occasion, the slip cover will show them at their best.
Universal
The universal chair cover is simple but elegant, and covers over the whole chair completely, which is great if you are trying to hide mismatched chairs. They are made of a satin material which ties at the back and can be a really effective decoration for any wedding.
Now all you need to do is decide what style of chair cover you would like!
